چکیده

Complications encountered in the chronic phase flail chest patients are a decrease lung volume due to wall deformities and secondary restrictive respiratory function disorders. The aim of study was determine differences changes between who were treated non-surgically those with surgical stabilisation. conducted on twenty applied our clinic diagnosed chest. There ten group stabilisation group. Computed tomography (CT) images received before treatment third post-operative month. Total volumes estimated CT using planimetry method Cavalieri principle. relationship analysed. While total increased 12.9% post-operatively group, it 36.9% (p<0.05). In cases hemithorax affected by trauma, increase 41.6 (34.6%), but 7.7 (10%) contralateral hemithorax, observed 42.6 (39.2%) while non-surgical 19.6 (13.9%) (p>0.05). Our findings showed that surgically greater than conservative If there no preventive factors for approach, rib could be primary choice patients.

Dose Reduction Methods in Chest Computed Tomography

Introduction: Computed tomography is one of the most powerful tools for investigating thorax disease, because it shows progression of lung disease much clearer than chest radiography. Technical advances in CT scanners have led to some abilities for CT scanners such as coverage of larger volume, lower noise and ability for acquiring image in one respiratory phase. However, this will be accompani...

The use of chest computed tomography versus chest X-ray in patients with major blunt trauma.

INTRODUCTION Computed tomography (CT) scans are often used in the evaluation of patients with blunt trauma. This study identifies the clinical features associated with further diagnostic information obtained on a CT chest scan compared with a standard chest X-ray in patients sustaining blunt trauma to the chest. METHODS A 2-year retrospective survey of 141 patients who attended a Level 1 trau...

Segmentation of nodules on chest computed tomography for growth assessment.

Several segmentation methods to evaluate growth of small isolated pulmonary nodules on chest computed tomography (CT) are presented. The segmentation methods are based on adaptively thresholding attenuation levels and use measures of nodule shape. The segmentation methods were first tested on a realistic chest phantom to evaluate their performance with respect to specific nodule characteristics...
